Kittens are not for everyone. There are many people who enjoy older cats. For one thing, they look more like the pictures on the covers of magazines and in books they have read. You don’t have to imagine what they will look like as an adult, how large they will be or how much they will weigh. They are confident adults and can get along with other pets and older children. Some young children have may difficulty letting the older cat have it’s space and realizing that it is a pet, not a toy. While Maine Coons are adaptable to other pets, they can certainly enjoy being someone’s “one and only”. As long as people are willing to interact, play and brush them, they will become your constant companion no matter what their age is. Maine Coons are “kittens” forever!
For the most part our Available Adults are cats that have been retired from the breeding program. They range in ages from three to six years old. They have had “show careers”, and have their hearts and hips screened and are DNA negative for the cardiac myosin binding protein C mutation, known to contribute to hypertropic cardiomyopathy in felines (HCM) and have gone to produce outstanding kittens. When the younger cats with out cross lines take their place, the older cats can joyfully retire. Retirees 5 years and older are $ 200.00 plus tax. Cats are 2-4 years of age are $450.00 plus tax. They have been spayed/neutered and have the same written health guarantee as kittens and are up to date with all their vaccines. From time to time we also have young adults available who have been showed and have their titles, but not needed in our small breeding program. These cats are for sale at $600.00, plus tax, a much lower cost than kittens. Finding the perfect home for a Retired Cat is the most important thing for me, therefore they are sold with a indoor only, no declaw contract.
Currently we have Zoey, a three year old, brown patched tabby female. She is a bit reserved until she gets to know you, but is playful, and everyone’s friend. This is a very large female with a easy coat to manage. Loves to drink water from fausets and fetches.
